Opposition Chief Raila Odinga on Monday joined a section of Nairobi MCAs and shared a meal at a hotel in Nairobi CBD.
The restaurant is located opposite the Nairobi County Assembly buildings along Wabera Street.
He was joined by former Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya and Opposition MCAs led by Majority Leader Peter Imwatok.
This was the first time in many months that Raila was seen in CBD walking peacefully without police interruptions.
While enjoying his meal, Raila appeared to be interacting with the leaders and members of the public who were at the restaurant.
Earlier in the day, he ditched his high-end vehicles and opted to take a matatu to work.
This comes a few days after he asked Kenyans to carpool, walk or use public service vehicles to work due to the high cost of living.
In a video seen by the Star, the former Prime Minister was seen walking from his home to a bus stop, where he engages Kenyans, buys newspapers and then boards a Matatu.
On June 27, Raila, during a Kamukunji rally urged Kenyans to walk to work in order to deny President William Ruto fuel tax.
He said the sum effect of this move was to limit the consumption of petrol and diesel by public service vehicles.
“One way, to do this is to carpool. Let us arrange to make regular journeys in a single vehicle whenever possible. Give each other a ride. Cut down on non-essential travel. Walk instead of driving whenever possible,” Raila said.
“I appeal to all the employers to allow their workers time to walk to and from work,” he added.
