Shabana FC President Gerad Nevaton has lauded their die-heard fans for standing with the team amidst the financial challenges.
The Kisii-based team will play in the Kenya Premier League in the 2023-24 season after attaining promotion from the Super League.
“Every time we’ve had long travels and financial difficulties, our fans have been very supportive. The little cash they have contributed in forums is what has brought us to where we are now,” Nevaton told Citizen Television.
Shabana’s match against Kisumu All Stars on Saturday at the Gusii Stadium was witnessed by thousands of fans in one of the most attended football matches in Kisii in recent years.
Nehemiah Onchiri’s second half brace clinched the Super League title for the side as the stadium erupted into wild jubilation.
Shabana topped the second-tier league with 73 points. Murang’a Seal who finished second will also dine with the big boys in the KPL. BY THE STAR
