Denno and wife had fierce quarrel over career plans

Musician Denno has revealed he wanted to follow in the footsteps of his former gospel singers like Bahati and Mr. Seed in ditching gospel for secular music.

Denno wanted to leave gospel music for secular music like others before him. He insisted it was not peer pressure or copying but rather other factors.

“My decisions are my own, sipendi kuinfluenciwa na watu wameenda secular. And then I thought maybe I should try a new style, nilikuwa naiona kama diversity pia,” he laughed about his plan.

That did not work very well as his wife vehemently opposed such plans. She said that they had a slight tiff about it, where he refused to stick to the gospel.

In 2022, Denno had given thought to going secular and it had a lot to do with the money this group of musicians makes.

“Kuna time hata mimi niliona niiingie kidogo na the reason as why sikuingi secular is ni huyu mrembo wangu. Alini encoruage sana. Last year I think 2021, 2022 hapo tulikuwa tunaongea kwa nyumba.”

The reason for this unexpected move was prompted by;“Mimi nafikiria tu ni venye tuu nilikuwa naangalia gospel industry venye inakaa naona pia hata wasanii wa gospel hawanaga ile umoja sana kama wasanii wa secular. Niliangalia vitu tuu mob sana, na naona kama nikitoa wimbo wa secualr itahit, maybe even be bigger than mbona,” he shared.

His wife told Mungai Eve and assembled media that she disagreed with him over his thought to switch.

“I thought it was really really bad just him having that thought of turning to secular, it was heartbreaking to me because I believe that he is called to minister and he is called to only sing for God.”

She said that she thought he was under peer pressure, “I thought he was being swayed into things that are not very important but the fact that mimi as a person I desire to live with a person who loves God and lives only for God, it would really quite a conversation between the two of us and I thank God that without even quarreling alikubali and he is here now celebrating.”

Denno on Saturday marked 15 years in music during a Thanksgiving concert.
