Chaos erupted during a UDA delegates’ meeting on June 24, after supporters of Ali clashed with those of EALA MP Hassan Omar, who is the party’s National vice-chairperson.
According to former Kisauni MP Ali Mbogo, Ali was the instigator of the chaos and was aiming at wrecking the party’s meeting agenda.
He further urged Ali to respect the party’s leadership and that leaders should steer clear of having similar incidents in the future.
“We saw the chaos between Sarai (Omar) and Jicho Pevu (Ali). Our mothers were beaten and teargassed. Today we want to create a party and Jicho Pevu comes and wants to destroy the party. We are telling him that he must first respect leaders,” he said speaking in Kisauni.
“Whether Sarai is good or bad he is the Vice Chair of UDA so what Mohammed Ali is saying should stop.”
During the chaos, Ali accused Omar of causing the chaos, claiming that he is using his position to mistreat other party members and supporters.
“I want to tell Hassan Sarai that he has no right to use his position to mistreat other leaders here,” he said.
On his part, Omar claimed that there are a few leaders in the party who want to have a specific individual to be elected in the party’s chairman position, noting that the election will follow due process as required by law.
“One of the leaders here wants a specific person to be declared chairman without an election and everyone has a right to contest in the election,” he said. BY CITIZEN DIGITAL
