Governors lead Madaraka Day celebrations in counties

All county governors are for the first time since President William Ruto took office leaning elaborate National Day Celebrations across the country.

The county celebrations had been significantly scaled down during the tenure of retired President Uhuru Kenyatta between 2017-2022.

The situation was further complicated by the Covid-19 pandemic that struck the country in March 2020, forcing the government to suspend big gatherings.

The climax of the county celebrations will be the county commissioners reading the president's Madaraka Day message to the country.

Except in Embu where the national celebrations are underway, all the 46 county governments are holding the events in collaboration with county commissioners.
