Bunge la Wananchi president Calvin Okoth alias Gaucho has been admitted to the hospital after he was allegedly attacked.
Gaucho took to his Facebook page to break the news saying he was attacked on Tuesday while on his way to Raila’s Kamukunji rally.
“Yesterday I was attacked by unknown group of armed men on my way to the Kamukunji rally but I thank God I was able to escape after sustaining serious injuries. I am currently in the hospital receiving treatment,” he said.
Kenyans sympathised with him as they wish him a quick recovery.
On Tuesday, Azimio leader Raila Odinga led a consultative meeting at Kamukunji.
Azimio leaders and supporters thronged the event where he gave way on the next steps.
Gaucho recently decried unfair treatment in Azimio coalition after he was arrested and claimed that nobody bothered to bail him out.
He said he prayed the talks materialise because if not and protests are recalled, he might not be part of them.
He said the unfair treatment had deeply bothered him, thus sending the message to the key principals in Azimio.
“I really pray to God the bi-partisan talks work. Because if they fail and there is a call for demos again, then I will just wish the Azimio team well going forward,” Gaucho said.
Gaucho had been arrested by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations for causing disturbance.
He was later charged at the Kiambu Law Courts and was released on Sh5,000 cash bail.
“Calvin Okoth Otieno alias “Gaucho” was arraigned before Kiambu law courts on charges of creating disturbance contrary to section 95 (1)(b) of the penal code. The suspect pleaded not guilty and was released on Sh20,000 bond or cash bail of Sh5,000,” DCI said. BY THE STAR
