There will be no more dialogue, says Eugene Wamalwa

Former Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa has announced there will be no more talks between the government and opposition geared at addressing concerns by Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya.

Wamalwa said the Opposition gave talks a chance but the President William Ruto had not shown interest to make them successful.

“The people have sovereign power and only assign it to a few individuals. We want to announce an end to bi-partisan talks on resolving pro-people issues including the high costof living,” he said.

Speaking in Kamkunji, Wamalwa said it was time for action against the Kenya Kwanza administration.He announced a campaign of defiance and civil disobedience including refusing to pay taxes.

Wamalwa said Azimio will convene another meeting on July 7 where a programme for the nationwide campaign will be announced.

He added that the opposition will embark on mass signature collection to force a repeal of the Finance Act, 2023.

“We also condem Ruto and his regime for lack of respect to the media, which is consistent with dictatorship,” he added.

At the meeting were Azimio leader Raila Odinga and Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua.Present were lawmakers Opiyo Wandayi, Athony Oluoch, Beatrice Ogolla, Beth Siengo, Otiende Amollo, Millie Odhiambo, Tim Wanyonyi, George Aladwa, James Nyikal, Robert Mbui, Charles Were, Stewart Madzayo, Babu Owino, Amos Mwago, Jones Mwarumba, Edwin Sifuna, Godfrey Osotsi, Enoch Wambua and a host of ward representatives    BY THE STAR
