A section of the Technical University of Mombasa went up in flames on Monday midmorning as students protested against the administration.
Clouds of smoke were seen billowing from the Mombasa-based college in videos shared online, as students marched around the campus carrying placards and twigs.
A large inferno was seen razing down stalls at the university student centre.
The students demanded an explanation from the administration on fee increment and what they described as the de-registration of students from the online portal due to missing marks.
They accused a section of the faculty of negligence.
Police engaged the students in running battles and lobbed teargas. The value of property destroyed in the protest could not be immediately established. BY CITIZEN DIGITAL
