Mejja is recalling a major health scare that left him in agony. The singer told Iko Nini podcast that back in 2017, he suffered a ruptured appendix that could have been fatal.
He was talking about how his former Kansoul bandmate Madtraxx offered him money-saving tips for paying off medical bills, which became useful when he was hospitalized in an emergency situation.
He was told he had suffered a ruptured appendix because of ‘jaba’ and alcohol and found himself in an ambulance being rushed to a medical facility where doctors recommended immediate surgery.
“Nilifanyiwa operation ingine noma.” At the time, Kansol was working on the song Bablas.
“Tuli release Bablas hivi nikajipata kwa ambulance. Wasee walikuwa wanasema ni hii jaba yako lakini siamini ni jaba sijui ni nini. Ni mchanga, ime pile up.”
Before then he had been having a recurring stitch. “Nikapelekwa hosi. Alafu ilikuwa painful joh, nikapigwa picha.”
Then he was informed by the doctors that he would need to be admitted. This was scary as it was his first time ever.
“Nikapigwa CT Scan. Nakwambia mimi niliambiwa nisikule na surgery ni kesho. Sada mimi hii food, msee akaniambia kwasababu nini yangu ilikuwa ina kuja ku burst. Alafu akasema zikiburst organs zako zitakuja kuoza.”
He was not prepared to be admitted, “Sikuwa prepared to go surgery siku io. Niko peke yangu unaletewa document flani using inasema incase surgery iende mbaya hawako liable.”
He had to deal with this all alone because he had not informed anyone he was going to the hospital.
“Wacha nikuambie, its a weird feeling ukisoma. Nilikuwa naeka signature nikitetemeka kwasababu yani vile imeandikwa vitu zinaenza enda mbaya.”
He was put to sleep but almost didnt wake up. “Mi nili doze kabisa nikiamka nilipigwa juu nilikataa kuamka so unapigwa hizo za *slap face* Mejja Mejja,” he demonstrates.
Regardless he signed, and luckily it was successful. He also made sure to praise the doctors for catching the infected appendix.
