The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has committed to partnering with Safaricom to investigate fraud cases committed through the service provider.
DCI Director Mohamed Amin noted that fraudsters have taken advantage of the rapid technological advancements to further their criminal activities.
This, he said, has prompted the decision to partner with Safaricom.
He spoke on Wednesday when he received a team of Safaricom top managers at the DCI Headquarters.
The delegation was led by head Route to Customer Safaricom PLC James Kiama.
Among the strategies adopted is strengthening information-sharing platforms including social media.
This is aimed at creating awareness and educating the public on crimes committed through mobile phone networks and how to detect and avoid them.
During the meeting, Amin received the 7th edition of the quarterly DCI magazine, which Safaricom helped in printing.
The publication, which is offered free of charge, was printed through the courtesy of stakeholders and partners including KCB, Equity Bank, and DTB Bank among others.
Also in attendance was DCI Deputy Director Ireri Kamwende and Director Liaison and Comms Tony Munga among others. BY THE STAR
