The two were escorted to the EACC Integrity Centre Police Station where they were questioned and recorded statements.
Kavoi was released on bail pending a recommendation of appropriate charges to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), whereas Musyoki was escorted to Kilimani Police Station after failing to pay the bail.
Kavoi, who was apprehended on Wednesday by officers from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), is said to have demanded the amount to return construction materials she had confiscated after demolishing the resident’s home due to claims that it was illegally erected on a road reserve.
She is said to have taken away all the construction materials including the iron sheets and window frames, which were reportedly kept in her office.
Citizen.Digital understands that anti-graft commission detectives laid a trap to catch the assistant commissioner in the act in response to a complaint filed on June 9.
A source privy to the matter told Citizen.Digital that Commissioner Kavoi agreed, after much pleading from the complainant, to reduce the amount demanded to half.
It was reportedly agreed that the money would be delivered through Musyoki, her agent.
Unbeknownst to the suspects, officers had been trailing the progress of the deal and arrested the agent when the transaction was being carried out.
In an unexpected turn of events, the agent is said to have hightailed it shortly after realizing detectives were on his tail, disappearing into the Mathare slum with detectives hot on his tail.
Unfortunately for him, the detectives who pursued him were able to book his date with fate, but not before he tossed the bribe money to members of the public who had gathered to watch the drama unfold. BY CITIZEN DIGITAL
