The Federation of Women Lawyers in Kenya (Fida-Kenya) has condemned EALA MP David Ole Sankok for his utterances about women in a viral marketing advertisement for Osim Country Lodge in Narok.
Speaking to media houses on Wednesday Fida said Sankok’s utterances were not only sexist but also depraved women and should not be tolerated.
“Statements such as ‘Many girls have eaten fare and changed their mind’and ‘We will remove the ladder’ made by Sankok are not only sexist and depraved, but also misogynistic,” Fida said.
“The utterances not only perpetuate harmful stereotypes but also contribute to the normalisation of gender-based violence and discrimination against women.”
Fida now wants Sankok to publicly acknowledge the harm caused by his remarks and apologise immediately.
They also want him to commit to respecting women’s rights and eradicate all forms of violence against women.
According to a video circulating online, Sankok promotes a unique lovers’ nest — Osim Country Lodge in Narok County.
This particular lover’s nest is situated atop a tree and can only be accessed by a ladder which is removed once guests settle in for a night and it can only be put up again at daybreak. BY THE STAR
