Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has lectured addicts on abuse of drugs and illegal substances.

Gachagua argued that no one should use any drugs since as leaders they don’t use or sell any drugs.

The DP was speaking in Tharaka Nithi County during the third regional stakeholder’s engagement in the fight against trade, use, abuse, and consumption of illicit alcohol, narcotics, and other psychotropic substances.

“President William Ruto does not take alcohol, he has no factory or any bar. Rigathi Gachagua quit alcohol 15 years ago and he has no intention of going back. He has no factory, outlet, or any arrangements to get one,” Gachagua said.

“Professor Kindiki does not take some soft drinks because they look like alcohol. Raymond Amollo is allergic to alcohol and Japheth Koome is a tea person.

The DP said those who take alcohol and bhang are on their own.

“So if you take alcohol and bhang you are on your own. Your leaders are not there,” he said.

He called on the officers to take charge of the prevention of drugs and illicit alcohol to save the future generation.

“I want to request our officers to reconcile their conscious that just like you are officers, you are also parents. None of your children including mine is immune to peer pressure to veer into drug abuse,” Gachagua said.

He also urged them not to accept any bribes relating to drugs saying that the money will not be helpful.

He said that money earned in a cheap way and causes pain to other people does not last.

“Those drugs you allow to go through the roadblock, those peddlers that you protect and take cheap money, they will find a way to your own child,” Gachagua said.
