Police in Rachuonyo North are investigating an incident where two sisters were killed while walking back home from work in Kendu Bay.

Nancy Akoth and Harriet Achieng were attacked along the road on Thursday night.

They had just finished their activities as waitresses at two different but adjacent bars and restaurants when the incident occurred.

Some residents said the two siblings would normally walk home together after closing business.

On the fateful day, the duo served their customers until 10 pm when they closed business and decided to go home.

“They normally return home together especially when they both have afternoon swift. We found them lying beside the road leading to their home,” a resident said.

North East Karachuonyo chief Tobias Aduda said the sisters were walking along the road when they were attacked by unknown people.

He said they were stabbed in the chest.

“One had a stab wound next to the lungs. They were bleeding,” Aduda said.

Speaking to journalists, the administrator said they are investigating the circumstances under which the two sisters were killed.

Aduda said they have reported the matter to Kendu Bay police station as manhunt for the suspects begins.

At one point, Akoth had reported that some people were threatening her.

“She reported the case to Kendu Bay station after some people threatened her,” Aduda said.

Rachuonyo North police commander Lydia Parteiyie said her officers rushed to the scene after they got a report that the two women had been attacked.

The officers who were patrolling went to the scene and pick them up for treatment at Kendu Bay Adventist Hospital.

“They, unfortunately, died on arrival at the hospital. We’re looking for the suspects,” Parteiyie said.

Police are asking residents to cooperate to enable them to apprehend the suspects who have disappeared.    BY THE STAR
