Nominated Member of Parliament John Mbadi has said the Kenya Kwanza government should have been truthful about their manifesto.
Mbadi said the ruling party should apologize to Kenyans for lying.
Speaking in an interview on Citizen TV, Mbadi said the Kenya Kwanza government should have told Kenyans about the implementation of the housing program by levying 3 per cent of the people’s income.
“President William Ruto during his campaign was not truthful about his manifesto and should have told Kenyans that if elected into office his government would implement the housing program,” the MP said.
Mbadi said that during the campaigns Ruto complained of former President Uhuru Kenyatta was to blame for excessive taxation and that he will cut them once in office.
He said taxes are much higher now than what the President promised.
“People are so frustrated and thought that things would be different once Kenya Kwanza was in office and therefore the people need an apology,” he said on Thursday.
During the National Prayer Breakfast at Safari Park Hotel on Wednesday, President William Ruto said the housing plan was also part of the campaign agenda of the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya, which is now inciting Kenyans to reject the proposal.
Ruto called on Kenyans to think about the plight of the majority of Kenyans who are living in slums and who stand to benefit from the project which is at the core of Kenya Kwanza’s bottom-up transformative agenda. BY THE STAR
