Masibo: My expertise will be an asset to Twinkle hockey club

Newly appointed Twinkle hockey club coach Fredrick Masibo has vowed to use his experience to help the team achieve their targets.

Masibo was on Monday appointed to replace Charity Miller who  resigned from her role last week. The former Kenya Police player signed a two-year contract and will be assisted by Emmanuel Wiswa.

Wiswa 22, is a utility player that plies trade with Western Jaguars in the men’s Premier League.

“I am honoured to join Twinkle club and I look forward to working with the team to achieve their goals. I am excited to bring my knowledge and expertise to the team and help them grow both on and off the field,” Masibo said.

Masibo brings over 15 years of coaching experience. He previously served as Eaglets ladies coach that competed in the Africa Club Championships in Abuja, Nigeria, in 2008.

The 56-year-old played for Goan Institute between 1988-1989. He joined the Kenya Police team  in 1990.

He played for the national team for 15 years before venturing into coaching in 2005. Masibo also coached the national ladies team in the World qualifiers in Baku. His wife, Terry Masibo and son  Robert Masibo, are attached to Blazers and Police teams respectively.

Twinkle club Chief Executive Officer  Simon Mwangi said: “We are delighted to have Masibo join our team. His experience and dedication  to the sport makes him an invaluable addition to our club. We look forward to achieving success together”.

“His passion for hockey and commitment for developing young players, aligns perfectly with our club’s philosophy,” Mwangi added.

Twinkle is currently second in the women’s Super League. The team have accrued 14 points from seven games. They play Jomo Kenyatta University of Science and Technology JKUAT this weekend.

Club president Desmond Boi expressed his excitement saying: ” I am confident Masibo will bring out the best from the team. He is a meticulous coach that knows what is expected of him”.    BY THE STAR
