Cabinet Secretary for Interior Kithure Kindiki has vowed not to allow any cult activities in Kenya.
He said that the government will also go after those hiding in other religions.
“All the crooks and criminals who are hiding in the church of Jesus Christ those who are hiding in other religions your time is up we will smoke you out,” Kindiki added.
The CS was speaking at a church service at the Kenya Assemblies of God (KAG) in Sagana Town, Kirinyaga County.
Last week, Kindiki assured Kenyans that the government will not relent in cracking down rogue religious leaders.
However, said he will not interfere with Kenyans freedom of worship.
“We not will not interfere with freedom of worship but relentlessly and ruthlessly pursue criminals hiding in religious organisations and misusing the scriptures to mislead their followers,” Kindiki noted.
The CS also warned the outlawed Mungiki sect and its adherents that the government will not allow its resurrection in the country.
Kindiki said the government has noted the resurgence of criminal outfits in parts of Central Kenya, Upper Eastern and Northern Rift Valley in what he termed as “cultural extremism”.
“In Central Kenya, we have seen during the period under review a reemergence of cultural extremism by groups which are proscribed under the law of Kenya and which some people would like to revive. We saw them chanting the other day outside the DCI when we arrested a suspect,” Kindiki added. BY THE STAR
