Reason Raila’s popularity is growing-Miguna warns Ruto

Firebrand lawyer Miguna Miguna has told President William Ruto that ODM leader Raila Odinga is gaining popularity.

Miguna in a statement on Monday blamed Raila’s rising popularity on State officers appointed by President William Ruto saying some of them have failed on their mandate.

“Raila is gaining popularity because many of the senior government officials you have appointed are failing to engage Kenyans in a transparent, respectful and accountable manner,” he said.

The comment was part of Miguna’s bold message to President Ruto on the prevailing situation in the country.

Miguna had asked the President to withdraw the Finance Bill 2023 and suspend the housing levy saying Kenyans had expressed reservations about them.

The lawyer at the same time pointed out that appointments in the current regime appeared skewed in favour of two communities, an issue he said was not auguring well with many Kenyans.

He also raised concerns over remarks made by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua that compared the government to a shareholding company saying such remarks are “suicidal”.

“Stop entrenching the perception that you are only hiring exclusively from two ethnic groups. Stop hiring and recycling incompetent failures and graft-riddled conmen,” he warned.

“The reckless talk about two shareholders in a country of 50 million people is political suicide. Mwai Kibaki was elected with 68% of votes but was defeated in a referendum 2 years later.”

Miguna said the President must focus on addressing the High Cost of living as a matter of urgency.

“We must stop the downward spiral and steady the ship. The time is now.”
