Ruto, Gachagua gift Muigai Wa Njoroge millions in his anniversary

President William Ruto and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Sunday gifted Kikuyu singer Muigai Wa Njoroge Sh 2 million.

Gachagua delivered the gift in Thika Stadium, Kiambu County, during the commemoration of 25 years of Muigai wa Njoroge in the music industry.

Gachagua was the chief guest in the ceremony.

“Ruto has sent me to give him Sh 1 million because he recognises his work and I, Rigathi Gachagua, who has been nicknamed Riggy G by the youth, came up with another million,” the Deputy President said. 

Trade and Industry CS Moses Kuria who was at the function also gifted the singer Sh1 million.

Gachagua said music is a powerful messaging medium that, over the years, has been effective and efficient.

“I commend Muigai wa Njoroge, whom I have known over the years as a musical charm, cutting across different themes and speaking to the hearts of many people,” he said. 

Gachagua also took the opportunity to commend musicians from the Central Kenya region for their unity and for entertaining their fans.

” I am glad to see the unity you have shown for one of you. Muigai wa Njoroge is a truthful man. He stood with us during the thick and thin of the last elections. Muigai is a gentleman,” Gachagua noted.

Gachagua said local artists have been instrumental in passing messages and preserving African traditions in cleverly weaved lyrics.

He added that local artists have created job opportunities for tens of Kenyans and tell Kenyan stories through their songs. 

The Deputy President was accompanied by Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria, Kiambu Governor  Kimani Wamatangi, MPs  Kimani Ichung’wa (NA Majority leader), John Kawanjiku, Kiambaa, Ndindi Nyoro Kiharu, Jane Kihara Naivasha, Sabina Chege (Nominated), Mary Wa Maua (Maragua), and MCAs, among other leaders.
