Mko na Erico! Khaligraph on avoiding Kenyan politics
Rapper Khaligraph Jones has opened up about why he has been keeping away from matter politics and social issues.
The 'Mazishi' hitmaker told the media on Wednesday night that he is focussing on other matters such as his career.
Khaligraph was unveiled as the brand ambassador for a certain betting company. Speaking after the reveal, Khaligraph said he has been in and out of Kenya performing and he says his work ethic is phenomenal.
The Kayole born resident said, "Mimi tuu ni mimi. ni kitu poa baraka tunarudisha kwa mungu kwa baraka, its a source of motivation or those coming up that there is real benefits of hard work."
He keeps away from politics because;
"I'm international saaa hii I cannot meddle in local affairs. I tried to and and uh they always want to label me as the bad guy.
Mara mingi ata ujitogeze you try ku advise watu unawaambia watu hii usanii yetu kuna jinsi tunafaa tuipeleke na mtu kama mimi niliitpitia saa hizi nimelearn, so natry kuwa patia knowledge lakini watu wanakutukana wanakuambia ehh we saa unajifanya unadvice nani?"
He added that being bashed for his opinion has made him keep away.
"Juzi tuu niliambia watu niaje tafuteni pesa muanze kulipa mutafute kidogo mulipe wakaanza kusema ah mimi naambia watu kama nani?
So right now unaniuliza mambo ya Donald Trump utaniuliza mambo ya Barack Obama na nitakujibu kuna , local itabidi mungangane nayo, na akina Erico."
The OG also spoke about working with Harmonize. They collabo'd on a song dubbed 'Kwame'.
"Ni mimi nilitafguta harmonize, sitaringa niseme ati eh ni Harmonize alinipigia. Nilimtafuta because ye ni mtu anafanya kazi fiti nikamptaia ngoma akaipenda sana. I wanted to just drop the audio but Harmonize said I go to Tanzania, shoot this video and that's exactly what happened."
He also spoke briefly about the perception people have that he is rich.
"Niko na gari kadha, Mungu amenibless tuu, two years ago if you asked me I would have said I have ten cars, bro I'm rich, but nowadays tumeset tu tumerelax."
He has International collabo's set for 2023, "I don't charge for collaborations, they can tell you I don't charge inalingana tuu vile tunavibe, inakuja tuu na respect."
He did however respond to the anti-government protests that have been taking place.
"Politics is a very sensitive topic right now, the political atmosphere is complex, so even if I have an opinion, na mimi ni msanii what I would like to see is if we maintain peace as a country if people decide to do maandamano ikuwe peaceful, if they don't decide then at the end of the day we are just trying to get an environment where peace is thriving."
