Maxine Wahome, girlfriend of rally driver Asad Khan, will be charged with his murder, which took place on December 12, 2022, a court has ruled.

This comes after State prosecutor James Gachoka forwarded the case file to the High Court, following closure of investigations.

Mr Gachoka applied to have the accused taken for a mental health assessment, a decision which Justice Lilian Mutende is due to make.

“I ask the court to detain Maxine Wahome at Kilimani Police Station to undergo a mental examination pending the murder charges tomorrow, ” the prosecutor informed Milimani senior principal magistrate Bernard Ochoi.

The court heard that Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Noordin Haji had recommended the murder charged against Ms Wahome and reviewing the case file and registering satisfaction with the eviddence presented to support it.

Mr Ochoi allowed the DPP’s request for Ms Wahome to be detained at Kilimani for the mental assessment before answering tot he charges before the High Court.

Two weeks ago, Mr Ochoi declined to close the  investigations file following an objection by Khan family.     BY DAILY NATION
