Fred Matiang’i, the former Interior Cabinet Secretary will Thursday present himself at a police station of his choice for any legal action to take its course, his lawyers have confirmed.
His lawyers Danstan Omari and Sam Nyaberi addressed the press hours after police officers who raided the Karen home vacated the residence.
Though they lamented over suspected foul play, they said they have no qualms about following the due process of the law.
“We are ready and willing to present Matiang’i to any police station in this country. He is not avoiding any rule of law, that is if he has committed any offence,” Omari said.
He went on to divulge that a battery of lawyers has been lined up to defend the former CS against any accusations that will be presented.
“We are two hundred advocates charged with protecting the former CS. We will drive with him tomorrow, take him to the nearest police station then they can lock him up if they want and take him to court,” Omari added.
Nyaberi on his part assured Kenyans that the CS is safe and that they are ready for any legal procedure that will emerge.
“We have left him in the safe hands of advocates, Members of Parliament and his former colleagues in the Cabinet,” he said.
He went on to raise concerns about the manner in which the former CS was being handled saying the officers did not follow the legal processes.
“If indeed police wanted the CS, they ought to have gone to court and applied, under miscellaneous application, that they want to investigate him on a particular aspect. But that did not happen. We have not seen any summons, we have not seen any warrant to raid his home,” Nyaberi added.
