Former Presidential Candidate Reuben Kigame has called for the Kenya Kwanza Government to respect former First Lady Mama Ngina Kenyatta.
Kigame said that Kenya Kwanza should leave her alone and respect her the way Africans respect and honour their mothers.
“Dear Kenya Kwanza. Please respect and leave Mama Ngina alone,” he said.
“Honour her. She is the founding mother of our nation. We are Africans. We honour mothers. We read the Bible. We honour our parents. I speak this to you in love,” he added.
Kigame also clarified to Kenyans that he does not mean that the former First Lady should not pay taxes.
“I never said she should not pay tax. She herself says if it is about tax, she is ready for her property to be sold,” he said.
He said that the same respect should be exercised when dealing with former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
“I’ll demand the same for President Ruto when he leaves office,” he said.
Mama Ngina had fired back at the state over the allegations that her family have been tax cheats.
In video footage accessed by the Star, Mama Ngina, without mentioning names, appeared appalled by reports claiming that her family dodged paying taxes.
Kigame said that Kenya Kwanza and KRA should visit her and work the tax payment issue out.
“This public drama is uncalled for. We should be as zealous on MPs on the matter of tax evasion,” he said.
He said that in the meantime, Kenyans should be told why the DPP has withdrawn more than 10 cases in the last three months, some of them involving serious graft charges.
