Edwin Chiloba to be buried on Saturday, Family confirms

A postmortem on the body of LGBTQ activist and fashion designer Edwin Kprotrich Kiptoo alias Chiloba will be done tomorrow (Monday) at the Moi Referral Hospital morgue.

His family also confirmed that he will be laid to rest at Sergoit village in Elgeyo Marakwet county on Saturday, January 14th,2023.

Gladys Chiri who is a cousin to Chiloba said they will attend the postmortem exercise and that burial arrangements were going on.

“We are already working on burial plans for him at home next Saturday”, Chiri told the Star.

Chiloba's body was found stashed in a metallic box in the Mogombet area of Kapsaret in Uasin Gishu County.

According to the source, a Bodaboda rider spotted a vehicle that was numberless dropping the metal box along the Kipenyo - Kaptinga road.

The matter was reported to Uasin Gishu police who arrived at the scene and upon opening the box, a decomposing body of a man dressed in a woman's clothes was found inside.

It was later established that the deceased was Eldoret-based fashion designer Edwin Chiloba.

Four people have so far been arrested in connection to the murder among them Chiloba's best friend Jackton odhiambo.

Odhiambo alleges he murdered his partner for cheating on him.

Odhiambo who had been staying with the deceased for a period of one year in Eldoret was arrested on Friday as the main suspect in the murder.

The two used to live together as husband and wife.

Chiloba’s caretaker Alex Nyamwea says that Jackton Odhiambo called him using Chiloba’s phone on January 4th informing him that he was vacating the house they lived in.

And true to his words, Odhiambo vacated the house with immediate effect.    BY MPASHO NEWS
