Many Nairobi residents have lost their lives to 10 key diseases .
Nairobi County Integrated Development plan, 2018 to 2022, has revealed 10 diseases that have contributed these deaths.
Top on the list are cancer, tuberculosis and respiratory diseases.

Pneumonia
Pneumonia is a form of acute respiratory infection that affects the lungs. The lungs are made up of small sacs called alveoli, which fill with air when a healthy person breathes.
When an individual has pneumonia, the alveoli are filled with pus and fluid, which makes breathing painful and limits oxygen intake.
The flu (influenza virus) and the common cold (rhinovirus) are the most common causes of viral pneumonia in adults.
Malaria
According to WHO, Malaria is an acute febrile illness caused by Plasmodium parasites, which are spread to people through the bites of infected female Anopheles mosquitoes.
It is preventable and curable.
Injuries from accidents
This accidents can be at the work place or on the road.
Cardiovascular diseases
These include Heart attack,High Blood pressure,coronary artery disease, stroke among others.
Asphyxia
This means lack of oxygen and blood flow to the brain.
Asphyxia can result from drowning, asthma, choking, strangulation, seizure, drug overdose, or inhaling chemical substances.
Sepsis
Sepsis is the body’s extreme response to an infection. This happens when an infection you already have triggers a chain reaction throughout your body.
It is a life-threatening medical emergency.
