We're not happy! Sonko threatens Sakaja with impeachment

Former Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko has fired a warning shot at the current Governor Johnson Sakaja saying he will mobilise for his impeachment if he does not change his style of leadership.

Sonko, in an interview with the Nation, said that the people of Nairobi have been complaining and are unhappy with the manner in which the City is being run.

"You were elected to serve Nairobians, not to punish Nairobians. We are not happy as Nairobi leaders," he said.

Sonko said that Sakaja should operate within the law adding that they will not hesitate to use the same law to kick him out if he fails to rule "orderly".

"We want to tell him that even if he has MCAs in his pocket, the constitution is very clear. We can even mobilise the collection of signatures to send you home," he said.

He said they can use the power of the people to remove Sakaja from that seat.

"Tumekunyamazia sana because we respect you. But ukianza kudharau UDA, President and Deputy President, I am sure we are going to cause havoc. "

He said that as the former governor, he fully understands the frustrations of Nairobians.

Sonko asked Sakaja to respect the business people of Nairobi and put a stop to the rampant corruption that is ongoing in the city.

"You have to respect Nairobians and work for them because they are the people who have elected you. Dont punish people, don't be selective in your leadership," he said.

"You are our brother. We want to support you. But behave like a Governor," he added.

He said that if he had been on the ballot, Sakaja would not have been elected Governor.

"Ni Uhuru tuu alileta ujuaji mingi ya pesa nane. But ningekua kwa debe haungekua Governor wa Nairobi," he said.

Adding:

"Respect everyone including the business community. MCAs have lifted the ban on nightclubs and you are insisting the ban I still there. Wacha kudharau wananchi."     BY THE STAR
