Senate Majority leader Aaron Cheruiyot is scheduled to move a motion during the special sitting on Tuesday afternoon for the formation of the committee.

"The senate resolves to establish a special committee to investigate the proposed removal from office of the Governor of Meru County," the motion reads in part.

Among the senators whose names have been fronted to sit in the panel are majority whip Boni Khalwale (Kakamega), Jackson Mandago (Uasin Gishu), Karungo Thangwa (Kiambu) and Ali Roba (Mandera).

Other members are Esther Okenyuri (nominated), Peris Tobiko (nominated), Eddy Oketch (Migori), Joseph Kamau (Lamu), Edwin Sifuna (Nairobi), Agnes Kavindu (Machakos) and Johnes Mwaruma (Taita Taveta).

Section 33 of the County Governments Act provides that the Senate can prosecute an impeachment through a special committee or plenary.   BY THE STAR
