One dead,12 injured in Thursday night accident

 

One person died on the spot and 12 others were injured in a road accident involving a 14-seater Matatu.

The accident occurred along Kisii-Ahero road just at the Kadinda area after Sondu on your way to Ahero on Thursday night.

According to Regional traffic commander Mwangi Ng’ang’a, the 14-seater Matatu collided head-on with a sugarcane trailor.

Mwangi added that the Matatu after the head-on collision was also hit from behind.

"This saw one person die on the spot as 12 others were rushed to the nearest facility with multiple injuries,".

He said the wreckage of the matatu was towed to Katito police station.

The accident happened only few hours after a school bus full of passengers reportedly overturned in Kisii hence killing two passengers.

Those who were injured were rushed to the Nyamira County Referral Hospital and others to Ekerenyo Subcounty Hospital in Nyamira North.

The followers were headed to Nakuru for the Ministry of Repentance and Holiness end-year celebrations.

The end-year crusade is held yearly in Nakuru.   BY THE STAR
