Kenyans asked to behave on roads as traffic build up

 

Kenyans have been urged to behave themselves on the roads as many make their way upcountry for Christmas.

The Kenya National Highways Authorities (KeNHA) asked Kenyans to avoid overlapping on roads and be courteous towards one another.

“Avoid overlapping as it will cause unnecessary delays,” they advised.

Already, thousands of Kenyans have had to endure hours of sitting in traffic as snarl-ups took very long to be cleared.

The Star had earlier reported that motorists had spent more than 10 hours in the cold at Ahero in Kisumu after traffic built up at around 5:00 pm.

KeNHA issued an advisory on social media informing Kenyans on what to expect as they make their way to their respective homes.

“We wish to inform motorists plying or planning to use the Nairobi-Nakuru (A8) of a traffic build-up between Gilgil town and the Rail Over Road Bridge as people travel for the festive season,” they said.

They further advised Kenyans to avoid the six things that could land them in fatal danger.

The ‘fatal six’ include speeding, lane indiscipline, drunk driving, driver fatigue, stalling vehicles and lack of reading road signs.

They asked that motorists respect each other on the roads, pay attention to road signs and drivers rest when they get fatigued.   BY THE STAR
