President William Ruto on Friday gazetted eight members to Commission on Revenue Allocation.
They have been appointed for six years from January 2023.
“I, William Samoei Ruto, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Kenya Defence Forces, has appointed the members of the Commission on Revenue Allocation, for six years, with effect from January 1, 2023,” reads the notice dated December 16.
Former Wajir Woman Representative Fatuma Gedi is among seven nominees who are now awaiting to be sworn into office after the National Assembly approved their appointment.
Benedict Muasya Mutiso, Jonas Vincent Kuko, Chris Kiptoo, Isabel Nyambura Waiyaki and Hadija Nganyi were nominated from the Majority wing.
Gedi, George Midiwo and Wilfred Koi-tamet have been nominated by the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition to join the agency.
CRA is tasked with recommending the basis for equitable sharing of revenues raised nationally between the national and the county governments.
The lawmakers held a special sitting on December 8 to approve the nominees for CRA.
Among the high-profile applicants who were unsuccessful include former NTSA director general Francis Meja, former nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura, Nairobi Deputy Gubernatorial aspirant Philip Kaloki and former Nyeri Woman Rep Priscilla Nyokabi. BY THE STAR
