“Go Pato” hitmaker Pato Banton is currently facing backlash after he took to his socials to share his desire to come to perform in Kenya.
Taking to his socials the English reggae singer and toaster wrote, “I’m dreaming of doing a concert in Kenya!”
Before sharing his official email, asking promoters to reach out to him.
“If you know a professional promoter tell them to contact me here: gwarninternational@gmail.com”
However, his announcement was not met with the excitement and enthusiasm one would expect.
Celebrity DJ and promoter Dj Guchy replied to Pato’s post practically schooling him on how the industry works.
Guchy highlighted that he had previously had a private conversation with the artist in regard to the same.
“I already told him that it’s not feasible.
I told him he’ll have to bring himself for a holiday or a media tour then we can do shows with him on the side, no promoter in his right mind will fly him in with his entourage and spend over 1.5M on flights alone,” wrote the entertainer.
Dj Guchy then went on to highlight an estimate of what it’d cost to fly the Briton to Kenya and back insisting that it didn’t make sense especially since he has only one globally recognized song.
“And then pay him a performance fee of around 1M, shipping can’t be expensive than the product, to meet the rider fees you need an extra 3.5M, so you need a minimum of 5M ( 5M – 8M ) to do his show, all that for people to listen to his one song.” Guchy wrote.
He added, “I will need to charge 2,500 tickets to recoup, who’s paying 2,500 to listen to one song?
When with your Ksh 10 you have unlimited music access on YouTube, for now let people listen to him on YouTube.
Lastly, as a promoter I don’t bring artists that want to come, I bring artists that people want to see, so Pato just go as your song suggests, in fact just leave.” Finished off Guchy. BY MPASHO NEWS
