MP Ichung’wa tells three embattled IEBC officials to resign

Kikuyu Member of Parliament Kimani Ichung’wa has asked the embattled IEBC Commissioners to resign from office.

Ichungwa, while speaking at an Inter-denominational Church Service at Embu University, said that it is the right thing to do.

He said that the remaining three of the ‘Cherea four’ should follow the example of commissioner Justus Nyang’aya.

“I want to plead with you to spare Kenyans the time, the money and the effort and please resign as Commissioner Nyang’aya did,” he said.

The remaining commissioners include IEBC Vice Chair Juliana Cherera, Francis Wanderi and Irene Masit.

They were suspended by President William Ruto on Friday and are awaiting trial over their conduct during the August 9 elections.

Ichung’wa said that they are being misled if they think Kenyans will hold protests and demonstrations over their constitutional removal from office.

“You know what you did and who led you to do what you did,” he said.

He said there is no way out for them but their removal from office.

The four commissioners differed openly with IEBC chair Wafula Chebukati over the August poll results.   BY THE STAR
