New information about the Ngara Girls’ High School Form 1 student who committed suicide on Tuesday, November 15, has come to light.

The deceased left notes indicating that she took her own life over quarreling parents.

According to a report by the school principal Beatrice Ndiga, the student jumped from the first floor of the Topaz dormitory, sustaining limb fractures.

She was found missing during the 6 pm roll call, prompting the dorm captains, school nurse, matron, senior teacher and two lady guards to search for her.

The sleeping areas had been closed at 5:50 pm, for roll call before supper.

“The student was found at 7:15 pm, having jumped from first floor of Topaz dormitory. She was rushed to Ladnan Hospital, Pangani, Ole Thruba Road and arrived there within 15 minutes after the fall accompanied by the school nurse and matron,” Ndiga said.

An X-ray revealed that her chest was not affected, but she suffered a fracture to her lower limb.

She was transferred to MP Shah Hospital for a CT scan and later moved to Aga Khan Hospital for resuscitation and treatment.

“Unfortunately, the patient passed on at about 12:00 midnight.”

Two notes were found in the deceased’s bag, saying she found no desire to continue living, with her father staying away from the family.

It was revealed that earlier, she had asked another student how one could commit suicide.

The other note was addressed to her mother, saying how the student was hurt when the mother chased her away when she went to console her, after a fight with the husband.    BY MPASHO NEWS
