Former nominated MP David Sankok has been nominated for the East African Legislative Assembly.
Sankok, had on July, announced that he was retiring from active politics.
The former nominated senator did not contest for any seat in the August 9 polls.
He said he wanted to focus on personal businesses.
“The issue of contesting is a personal decision. I decided not to seek any elective position this time. I need to focus on my businesses,” he said.
He represented persons living with disabilities in the National Assembly.
He is among the 5 nominees UDA fronted to serve in the regional assembly.
Other nominees include former Mombasa senator Hassan Omar,ex-Nandi woman rep Zipporah Kering, former URP secretary general Fred Muteti and former nominated senator Falhada Dekow Iman.
National Assembly will on Thursday, November 17 conduct a voting exercise to elect EALA members.
Through a gazette notice, the clerk of the National Assembly Samuel Njoroge said the election will start at 10am.
Kenya has nine seats up for grabs at EALA.
Five of the nine will go to the Kenya Kwanza coalition while four will go to the Azimio la Umoja. BY THE STAR
