An employee of the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has been sentenced to one year in jail over bribe allegations.
This was after Senior Principal Magistrate Victor Wakhumile found the security guard guilty of demanding and receiving bribes.
The guard was said to be receiving bribes from the citizens who were seeking services from the NTSA offices.
She is accused of demanding a bribe of Sh10,000 from a complaint in order to endorse his driving licence to Class A
Magistrate Wakhumile said the guard pleaded guilty to the offences.
“It is believed she was receiving bribes as a link person between service seekers and NTSA officials,” Wakhumile said.
The Magistrate added that the bribes were aimed at enabling persons to illegally obtain various approvals and clearance from the authority, including the endorsement of qualifications that a person does not possess. BY THE STAR
