Police officers have been deployed to guard the premises of an evicted family in Westlands.
The family was evicted from their home along School Lane on Tuesday by an auctioneer.
Two police officers from spring valley police station are guarding the home, restricting entry into the house.
Operations on the premises have also ceased and relative calm has been restored at the home after Tuesday’s events.
The auctioneer who evicted Avani Shah and her family from the home they have lived in for 46 years was arrested on Tuesday by Directorate of Criminal Investigations officers.
Zachary Baraza of Siuma Auctioneers was summoned to the DCI headquarters on Kiambu Road for grilling before he was detained.
Baraza told police he had been given an order by the claimant of the land to evict the family.
“Mine was to implement the court order and I handed the house to the owner,” he said.
Police want the court to allow them to hold Baraza for ten days as they investigate the incident.
Shah had told the media that on November 4, someone had shown up to the house claiming they had been in ownership of the house since 2010.
Shah said the lease on the house still had 25 more years before it expired.
On the day of the eviction, Shah said goons were stealing some of their items while evicting them from their house, the building was also demolished. BY THE STAR
