Ben Kalya was crowned the overall winner of the third leg of the DTB ‘Bank with us’ golf tournament on Saturday night at the lush par 70 Kericho golf course.
Playing off handicap 20, the Kericho-based businessman carded an impressive 42 stableford points to claim the title having registered one birdie and seven pars to beat his closest rival, Roberto D’Souza, by one point.
D’Souza was named the overall men’s winner after carding 41 stableford points off handicap 13.
Kakamega Sports Club’s Scarlet Muhadia — off handicap 29 — clinched the overall title in the women’s division after carding 35 stableford points.
Kalya said: “I am extremely elated to scoop the overall award at this tournament. I woke up ready to hit the fairways having had enough time to prepare for the event. I thank my foursomes who were phenomenal and proved worthy competitors.”
This was DTB ‘bank with us’ tournament in Kericho County.
The first two legs of the tournament were held in Kakamega and Mombasa counties.
Tej Bachu claimed the longest drive in the men’s category while Faith Chemutai won the longest-drive lady.
David Omollo of Nyanza Club cliched the nearest to the pin award. The fourth leg is slated for NyanzaClub in Kisumu county on November 19. BY THE STAR
