Raila in Kisumu for Luo elder burial

ODM leader Raila Odinga is in Seme Kisumu county for the burial ceremony of Mzee Nyangaga Akoth.

Until his demise, Mzee Nyangaga Akoth was a member of the Luo Council of Elders.

Raila is accompanied by Kisumu Governor Anyang Nyongo, Siaya’s James Orengo, Migori Ochillo Ayacko Deputy Governor Mathews Owili, Kisumu West MP Rosa Buyu, Seme MP Nyikal James, Kisumu Central MP Joshua Oron, Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo, Muhoroni MP Onyango Koyoo, Jeremiah Kioni amongst other leaders

 

Nyong’o noted that death has robbed them of a pillar in their community.

He said Mzee was a respected elder not only in Seme but across Nyanza because of his wise counsel and deep knowledge of cultural and leadership issues.

He added that he was a committed dependable supporter of the ODM party.

Nyong’o further noted that Mzee was a close confidant of both our patriarch Jaramogi Oginga Odinga and ODM party leader Raila Odinga.

“I was able to enjoy his wise counsel until recently when I visited him at the star hospital. Mzee will always be remembered as a committed businessman man who travelled widely across East Africa,” he said.

Luo council of elders Ker Willis Otondi eulogised the deceased as a Godfearing man and kind-hearted.

Otondi said he knew Mzee Nyangaga immediately after the formation of the Luo Council of Elders in 1988 and he was an outstanding member of the council.

“I will really miss you, my friend. You always stood with me and you were the one who proposed to me to be Ker after Riaga Ogalo. You were a brave and outspoken member of Luo council of elders”, he said    BY THE STAR
