Content creator Timothy Kimani, Blessed Njugush, has revealed that his online tag name, Blessed, was inspired by Hollywood award-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o.
Speaking to Obinna on the Kulacooler show, the father of two said Lupita’s sentiments came when he was on the verge of calling it quits.
It was a time he was casting at the ‘real house helps of Kawangware.
The show was all blissful, and his dream of becoming the next Lupita was slowly coming to fruition until a bigwig took it to his Twitter account to say,
“This show is a alitumia jina ya hizi vitu hubebwa na exhauster, show,” the funny man explained.
As the custom is, Kenyans on Twitter got on with the narrative,
“Then watu Twitter, ni ukweli, ata mimi nimenotice.” Njugush said.
The phrase ‘lakini Mungu ni nani,‘ came to play in their lives after three weeks when Lupita tweeted,
“Three weeks later, Lupita tweets, watching real house help of Kawangware, I wish everybody understood Swahili, God bless Njuguna.
That’s where blessed Njugush came from,” he revealed.
Njugush added that he has the screenshot of the tweet well framed and hanging in his house.
He has passed on the name to his son Tugi (Blessed Tugi), and the chances are high that we are about to see Blessed Toriah.
When Obinna asked how he felt about the numbers he commanded on the online space, Njugush said it felt good, not because of the numbers but the far they had come.
“It’s crazy, because when we were starting, ulikuwa unaambia mtu unafanya digital, anakushangaa, like, ‘bro wenzako wanafanya vitu kubwa.’
Ata kuna time nilikuwa naongelewa kwa group za wasanii aty nachoma soko.” BY MPASHO NEWS
