Police in Kirinyaga are looking for two inmates who escaped from G.K Kerugoya prison at the wee hours of Monday morning.
The inmates who are facing capital related charges are said to have escaped at 3:45 am by jumping out through the prison’s perimeter wall.
Kirinyaga central OCPD John Torori told the local press that the two were in a group of three prisoners who had initially managed to escape.
However, one was later arrested shortly through the help of the members of the public.
The police boss described the suspects as dangerous to the security of the county and as such appealed to the members of the public to be cautious and report any suspicious individuals to the nearest police station.
Though he refrained from disclosing their names due to the sensitive and serious nature of their charges ,the police boss simply described them as middle aged male individuals .
He added that they are yet to know the route they took upon escape.
He however ,noted that one of the escapee suffered a gun shot injury from the officers who were on their pursuit .
“We received information from the prison’s facility of the escape of the prisoners who were placed under custody. We managed to mobilize our officers to pursue them and through the help of the members of the public ,we managed to arrest one culprit.”
“We are however yet to know where the other two escaped to. Police are on high alert and a serious operation is currently undergoing in order to nab them.” he said. BY THE STAR
