Suna West MP Peter Masara has faulted Azimio leaders who are defecting to Kenya Kwanza.
In a video seen by the star, Masara said those who moved camps have lost their identity and what they stood for.
“I want to tell you the people of Nyanza that we cannot lose our identity because we have lost the presidency, we will fight for our rights and we will not be a lesser thing simply because Raila is not the president,” he said.
Masara said ODM leader Raila Odinga will remain their hero despite him not clinching power.
“His time will come, the God we serve understands why all this is happening but he remains our hero and he will continue being our leader,” he said.
He said he cannot defect and they will have President-elect William Ruto do as he wishes as the president.
“Let nobody cheat you that I can cross to anywhere, when Raila tells me to go anywhere, I will go. Whatever happened and Ruto became the president, that is none of our business,” he said.
“Let him serve his term and let him not expect us to make noise, if he wants to change the name of the country, we will tell him to go ahead.”
Masara said those who defected were in Azimio because they thought he would clinch power and not because they are his supporters and just riding on his name.
“I wanted to tell elected leaders, you should not auction your people if you wanted to be in UDA, you were supposed to go and pick UDA certificate and contest, your people voted you for a specific party, and for specific reasons,” he said.
He quoted Nelson Mandela saying that leaders who change principles because of the circumstances do not qualify to be a leader.
“A leader must be a principled person, we were not following Raila because he was going to be in government, we were following him because we believed in his principles,” he said. BY THE STAR
