Lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi now claims that President-elect William Ruto’s enemy is President Uhuru Kenyatta and not Raila Odinga.
In a statement on Sunday, Ahmednasir said Ruto not to relax and be on the lookout for how the Supreme Court will handle the presidential election petition.
He added that Ruto’s fight is with Uhuru whom the DP has had differences for the longest time.
The lawyer reminded Ruto that Uhuru has been preparing for the Supreme court battle for three years.
“President-Elect William Ruto should know that in the Supreme Court just like the August 9 election outgoing President Uhuru is his nemesis, not Hon Raila…having beaten him once Uhuru wants to turn tables in the Supreme Court…remember Uhuru prepared for this war year 3 yrs ago,” Ahmednasir said in a tweet.
Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga who was backed by President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to file a case at the Supreme Court to challenge the results of the presidential election which saw Ruto announced as the winner.
Raila claimed that the declaration of Ruto as the president-elect was null and void.
“Let no one take the law into their own hands. We are pursuing constitutional and lawful channels to invalidate Chebukati’s illegal and unconstitutional pronouncement. We are certain that justice will prevail,” he said.
His legal team is exploring seven crucial grounds to overturn Ruto’s win at the apex court.
Top lawyers are putting together what they say is watertight evidence to convince the seven-judge bench at the apex court that Ruto’s win cannot stand.
The lawyers have been meeting in Nairobi’s Lavington area to beat next week’s Monday 2pm deadline for filing of a presidential petition. BY THE STAR
