Kenya records 42 new cases of Covid 19

 

Kenya recorded 42 new cases of Covid 19 on Tuesday from a sample size of 1,564 tested in the last 24 hours.

The positivity rate is now at 2.7 per cent.

37 of the new cases are Kenyans while five are foreigners.

A statement from the Ministry of Health said 24 of the patients are males while 18 are females.

The youngest is a six-year-old while the oldest is 95 years old.

Total confirmed positive cases are now 337,339 and cumulative tests conducted so far are 3,810,640.

"Today, 133 patients have recovered from the disease, 130 from the Home Based and Isolation Care Program while three are from various health facilities countrywide," Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said.

The total recoveries are now at 330,910 of whom 277,379 are from the Home-Based Care and Isolation program, while 53,531 are from various health facilities countrywide.

Kagwe said no patient has succumbed to the disease therefore the cumulative fatalities remain at 5,670.

The number of patients admitted in the health facilities is 51, while 708 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program.

There are no patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) or in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).

"Another 11 are in the General Wards and are all on supplemental oxygen," Kagwe added.   BY THE STAR
