Four police officers are on Tuesday expected to be charged with murder at a Milimani court for allegedly killing a man in Kayole, Nairobi.
Corporals Joseph Ojode and Charles Kirimi and constables Bashir Ali and Henry Mutai were allegedly inlvoved in the murder of Wycliffe Owuor in Kayole.
Owuor was one of the suspects in the Sh72 million Nairobi West ATM heist that took place in 2019.
“They will face murder charges contrary to Section 203 as read with Section 204 of penal code,” a police report said.
The officers, all stationed at the Kayole Police Station, were arrested on Monday and detained at Capitol Hill Police station in Kilimani.
Their arrest followed recommendations by the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, Noordin Haji on May 18, 2022.
“This is in compliance with the recommendation by ODPP vide their letter res odpp/cam/1/1/1778 dated 18th May 2022 and dig kps letter ref kps/dig/sec/leg/11/4/103 dated 23rd May 2022 involving death of one wycliffe owour.
A statement released by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in 2020 indicated that Owuor was gunned down on March 24, 2020 after a fierce shootout with the police.
Owuor was out on a Sh50,000 bond at the time.
