Daddy Owen defends Kibaki's grandson accused of snubbing Raila Odinga
Singer Daddy Owen has defended late Mwai Kibaki's grandson who was accused of snubbing Raila Odinga during the former president's burial in Othaya.
A manipulated video that went viral on social media showed the Kibaki grandchild looking away when the former Prime minister approached him for a handshake.
Speaking on the ordeal, Daddy Owen said it was unfair to subject the young man to bullying because of a manipulated video.
“I have seen so many people trolling this young man on social media, this is the correct video that u can see clearly from this angle that the young man is shaking the hand of former PM Hon. Raila Odinga, it is unfair that people have judged him all day yet he was avoiding the photographer and not the former PM,” he wrote in a social media post.
Daddy Owen added that social media can be an unsafe space for innocent people who are judged based on non-factual information.
“It is sad that on the streets of social media u can be unfairly judged by people jumping to conclusions.”
A manipulated video made rounds on social media platforms on Saturday, showing the grandson of Mwai Kibaki looking away when Raila Odinga approached him for greetings.
Political commentators opined that the young man’s actions showed that the Kibaki family was not in good books with Raila Odinga.
However, the correct version of the video showed that the man greeted Odinga just like all family members.
While greeting the former Prime Minister, a photographer ran to capture the moment. It is at this point that the man looked away, seemingly avoiding the glare of the camera.
Uhuru's personal spinmaster, DJ Euphorics said he was there at the event and the grandson actually greeted the former Prime minister. BY MPASHO NEWS
