Former Zora actress Jackie Matubia popular for the role of Nana has gushed about being the proud mother of a smart, athletic and innovative daughter.
Jackie bragged about her daughter, Zari’s, sporting prowess in football.
“Proud mother, they won and baby scored,” Jackie was gushing about her daughter’s school team winning their match.
She shared a photo of her daughter showing off the medal they were awarded after the football match.
Jackie who is also preparing for the birth of their second child with actor Blessings Lungaho, did a 10 km walk in Karura Forest.
“Did 10KM, so proud of myself,” she said. “It wasn’t easy but lazima hii njia tuitengeneze (we have to prepare the pelvic muscles).”
Walking is a great form of exercise for a pregnant woman. Some of the benefits include,
- Reduced risk of complications during pregnancy and delivery.
- Helps burn calories so you keep your weight in check.
- Boosts your mood and energy levels.
- Eases back pain and other aches.
- It keeps your heart strong and your muscles toned.
In a past interview, Jackie intimated that the industry is somewhat hostile to new mothers.
“Coming back for women after giving birth is really hard in this industry. It got to a point where I was looking at my child and wondering, ‘Why did I have you?’ My career has stopped etc. This was my lowest moment. It was a tough time.”
But despite that fleeting thought, Jackie didn’t lose hope and pushed herself for her daughter’s sake.
“You cry yourself to sleep and wake up the strongest woman because you have a child looking at you for their providence.”
Other drawbacks included having to be typecast.
“You go for auditions but guys don’t want to hire you cause they know where I used to work (at Tahidi High). And those people paid well. So the guys auditioning you don’t want to pay that.” BY MPASHO NEWS
