Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka deserves mistreatment from the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance party, Kandara MP Alice Wahome has said.
Speaking on Tuesday, the MP who is allied to Deputy President William Ruto, however, said that he (Kalonzo) is still welcome to join the Kenya Kwanza Alliance.
Wahome who was reacting to Kalonzo’s last minute decision to attend the Azimio Running Mate selection interview said she now has no doubt that the former Vice president has a problem.
“Kalonzo my learned friend, I have always thought when they called you Watermelon, they were being mean. I have no doubt now you have a problem after you attended Azimio interview today. You deserve mistreatment but Karibu Kenya Kwanza. Writing on the Wall,” she said in a tweet.
Her remarks came after Kalonzo attended the Azimio Running Mate selection interview at Serena Hotel on Tuesday.
The Wiper leader had initially indicated that he was not going to be subjected to any interview to deputise Azimio flag bearer Raila Odinga, and that the only interview he would under take was that of the people of Kenya.
He also protested why he had to be subjected to an exam to be Raila’s deputy.
“This issue is beginning to weigh heavily on me. I find it almost unacceptable discussing it… If this issue is solved earlier, it will give some of us the impetus to campaign,” Kalonzo said.
While addressing residents of Sultan Hamud and Emali town in Machakos on Thursday last week, Kalonzo said he would not face the selection panel.
“I have so much respect for the selection panel. Let them not perceive me as a rude person. But it’s Kenyans who have said that Kalonzo has been the Vice President to late President Mwai Kibaki for five years, Kalonzo has been Raila Odinga’s running mate from 2013 and 2017, what kind of interview is this which you are going for?” he asked.
“I said in due respect that no, I will not appear for an interview.”
Kalonzo added that he surrendered his 2017 presidential candidature in favour of Raila, hence, a suitable man for the position.
His change of heart came a day after Kanu chairman Gideon Moi withdrew from the interviews and declared support for the Wiper party boss. BY THE STAR
