Voters are not cows! Junet, Sakaja in Twitter spat over Nairobi race

News

Suna East MP Junet Mohammed and Nairobi senator Johnson Sakaja traded verbal jabs with each other on social media over the race for Nairobi governor.

The two called each other out on Twitter on Wednesday after Sakaja, who is aspiring to be the Nairobi governor, said he has no issue with Azimio la Umoja presidential aspirant Raila Odinga.

Sakaja had said the former Prime Minister is like a father to him and has played a great role in making Kenya the country it is today.

But in response, Junet said that Raila indeed deserves respect.

“That’s nice. Raila deserves respect but Azimio and Raila supporters will vote for Polycap Igathe on August 9, 2022,” Junet said.

But Sakaja who got offended by this tweet said Nairobi will have to decide who their governor will be.

Sakaja who is in UDA will face Azimio’a Igathe in the August polls. The two will battle it out for the top county seat on August 9.

“They (voters) are not cows bro (sic). The people of Nairobi have the ability to make their own decisions as they have done in the past. Panga Migori,” Sakaja said.

In a quick rejoinder, Junet said as Azimio la Umoja team, they had made a choice.

“I know they are not all cows but as Azimio, we want to resist the politics of conmanship of running on UDA ticket and at the same time want to ride on Baba’s name. Lanes,” he said.

Last month, Deputy President and Kenya Kwanza presidential aspirant William Ruto announced UDA would field Sakaja as its aspirant for the Nairobi governor seat.

This was after Bishop Margaret Wanjiru withdrew her bid and opted to go for the Senate seat.

Jubilee’s Igathe will be deputised by former Kibwezi MP Philip Kaloki, who is from the Kalonzo Musyoka-led Wiper party.           BY THE STAR
