Kakamega County Governor Wycliffe Oparanya has been appointed the Azimio Western campaign chairperson.
Oparanya took to his socials to break the news on Wednesday.
He added that he has already formed a Committee for the same.
“I have already constituted a campaigns Committee that comprises MPs from the 11 counties in the region that I will be working with to coordinate Azimio campaigns,” he said.
He said he was appointed during a Nairobi meeting to put strategies in place to ensure that Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga garners more votes and elective seats from the Western region.
Oparanya thanked Raila for giving him chance to lead and said the ODM leader has made many sacrifices for Kenya, making him the best presidential candidate to revive the country’s economy.
“Baba (Raila) is the best candidate to deal with corruption and unemployment challenges and restore the lost country’s glory,” he said.
Oparanya was among the 10 leaders that faced the Azimio presidential running mate panel on Monday and Tuesday.
On Tuesday, Oparanya said if he landed the job, he was going to campaign for the ODM chief to ensure he is elected on August 9.
“If given a chance to be the running mate of Raila Odinga, I will bring my development and political experience to the team. I will also marshal support from the Western region to support Raila to be the fifth President.” BY THE STAR
