Award winning master bartender and owner of one of Japan’s top bars, Hiroyasu Kayama is in the country.
Kayama is doing a three-day takeover of Hero Bar, located at The Trademark Hotel, that features a menu of cocktails. In true Kayama fashion, he uses a large selection of herbs, spices, plants and roots, all which are grown on his parents farm.
Tokyo bar Benfiddich, which he owns, is ranked number 32 in the world and number nine in Asia. Kayama is himself famed as “Japan’s greatest bartender”.
“I prepared all these cocktails ahead of time,” said Hiroyasu in an interview.
What is his secret to getting to the top of the list as one of the world’s best?
“My cocktails, just like where I come from are very specific. I believe I bring expertise in mixology. For my stay in the country, I will feature creative dishes, cocktails and desserts as an accompaniment for my cocktails,” he said.
“The transfer of knowledge and skill is essential to developing and growing African and Kenyan bartending. We are excited to host Kayama, a bartender at the top of his game and globally recognized for his farm to bar approach to a cocktails,” said Richie Barrow, General Manager Food and Beverage for Tribe Hotels Group.
Kayama has done bar ‘takeovers’ around the world, sharing his experience and skills.
